Sedentary DangersThe math is simple: sitting in a sedentary position for more than four hours a day + no additional physical activity throughout the day = an array of health complications. Weight gain and obesity is the most obvious since reports show that not only are the enzymes that break fat reduced by 90% as soon as you rest your bottom to a chair, but you only burn one calorie per minute in a sitting position. Research also shows that those with sitting jobs are twice more likely to contract cardiovascular diseases than those with standing jobs. Thus, when experts say that sitting can potentially kill you, they mean it. Switching out your chair for a yoga ball and doing some sitting exercises can help, but actually making the effort to get up and move around a bit between each blog posting can really help as well. Make sure to take a few laps around the block, use workout videos, or join a gym to get in some real physical activity at some point in the day.READ5 Smart Ways To Green Up Your Tech2. You wont go blind per say, but research does show that you can increase your chances of developing short-sightedness. Not to mention, computer screens can cause headaches. Experts suggest turning away from your computer screen every hour to give your eye a break, but closing them or walking outside should do the trick as well. Remember to adjust the screen lightening and contrast so that it doesn’t strain your eyes too much.3. To mak e sure youre not overworking your hands, stretch them periodically. You can massage your hands and rotate your wrists. Or you can try spinning a tennis ball carefully in your palm.Like mentioned before, blogging is a great way to release your creativity, just take precautions to ensure that it does jeopardize your health. This article is written by Amelia Wood. Education and Social Welfare Personal Reflections

Social policy mainly refers to procedures, principles, and regulations that affect the living conditions of individuals.Social Welfare has changed as the country has developed and the wants and needs of people and families have become more diverse. Social Policy will never fully meet every need of every individual or family, which is why there are reforms to the current welfare programs; so that the highest amount of people can be helped. Current programs such as TANF, and HUD have always been around. They may not have always been called these things. The way I see it back in the day when they would take children to the â€Å"poor farms† was just another time of assistance. They then were trying to teach them life skills so that they could better provide for themselves and their families, and make society an equal that had work ethic. Some changes attempted to help the poor move to work other than continuing to need aid. I believe that there are many issues for social policy. First, I would have to say that an issue I feel is pressing would be meeting basic human needs. Individuals who are unable to work, whose wages are scarce, or for people who jobs are not available for; have the right to an income or even services adequate to meet their basic needs. Describe your recommendation for a tool/technique that is fit for this purpose. 4. Choose an organization. This may be a well-known or one where you are a client. Make a proposal for a cross-sector marketing communications solutions for this organization. (15) 5. Describe a channel that is highly effective in empowering customers and responding rapidly to customer perspectives. 6. What is your organizations policy/procedure/protocol for maintaining contact with business networks and clients? Answers: 1. The fictional organization I chose is called Deepdipo Technologies. The Company sells electronics which includes smart phones, tablets and personal computers to customers. There are many manufacturers of these products. The products have also gained a wide acceptance by consumers. The customers however need to know the differences between them before purchasing. The divergent media environment would be the best solution for this purpose. The tools and techniques that I propose for the print media are magazines and newspapers. Television and radio would be best for the broadcast media. For electronic media, I would propose videodisks, videotapes, web-pages and CD-ROMs (Mohr and Nevin, 2010). Billboards would be the best media for the display media. These tools and techniques suits the divergent media for the sales of electronics. Once a new electronic has been manufactured billboards would be the best for the display media. Unlike the other types of media, billboards would provide the image of the device from all angles. This will help appeal to the eyes of the intended audience and potential customers. The radio and television provide the best broadcast media as the introduction of new products will reach a wide number of people. Unlike the display media, broadcast media gives the marketer the chance to explain more about the products (Tome and Snoj, 2014). Deepdipo Technologies will use this opportunity to explain to the potential customers why they should purchase their new product and avoid the other products within the market. Web-pages would be important in reaching for generation x and the millennials who are well-known to spend their time in the internet. The websites would provide them with all the information including the images, specs and more explanation about the new devices. My imaginary organization is a taxicab organization. The main task of the organization is to provide transportation to customers using their cabs. Most taxicab organizations have wide areas where they park their cabs and wait for customers to make calls to be picked from certain locations. Other customers wait for any cab that may pass by to request for transport. For those who request cabs by calling the taxicab firms, the organizations send drivers who are in the parking lot to serve those customers. A lot of time is wasted in such a processes since the customers have to wait for the cab without the knowledge of its exact location. In order to make this easier for the customers, I would propose an app that shows the cabs that are on the move. The proposed app would help indicate the cab that is nearby. The customer, the firm management and the drivers will have access to the proposed app. This app will should operate on a majority of phones and on the personal computers in order to increase convenience. From the view of the cabs on the map, the customer can request the driver nearby to pick them. Once the request is made, the driver is immediately notified. If in case the driver is engaged, he can inform the customer to look for another cab. In order to make improvements on the app, when the driver is transporting a customer, he/she clicks on a button that removes him/her temporarily from the map. Once the customer is dropped in their appropriate locations, the driver can then click on a button to place them back on the map. The features of this app are customer-centric because the customer is the one that mainly engages the app. In addition, the app allows the customer not to waste a lot of time waiting for a cab that they are not sure of its location. Also, instead of the customer dealing with individuals at the organization, he/she is able to directly contact the drivers. The ability of the app to only indicate drivers who are not engaged makes it easier for the customer to pick the right driver instantly. 2. A new product does not have any established customers. In this case, everyone is a potential customer for the product. Non-personal communication would be the best marketing communication that that would reach a wide audience. This type of marketing communication does not require the marketing individuals to be in contact with the potential customers, meaning that not many marketers would be required to be on the field. Non-personal marketing communication includes media, events, sales promotions and publicity (Mohr and Nevin, 2010). The organization should use media in order to make most sales. The media should include: magazines and newspapers for print media; television, radio and telephone for broadcast media; wireless, webpages, videotapes, audiotapes for electronic media; and signs, posters and billboards for display media also. Using media, the organization will have the chance to describe and showcase the new product. Images of the new product will be well displayed on the media. The size, color and shape of the product on the media will help create a visual in the minds of the potential customers. Media also provides the opportunity for the marketers to include explanation about the product and appealing messages that would catch the attention of the customers. These messages may be in form of texts or audios. The display and messages in the media will appeal to the customers to purchase the new product. Conferences, sales promotions and events creates the opportunity for the organization and the customers to meet and interact. Media will enable the organization make as many sales as possible whereas conferences, sales promotions and events will provide the opportunity for the organization to collect feedback. 3. Our organization constantly requires different items that require to be supplied. For any items required, our organization contacts the supplies firm in order to get the items with the best market prices. This makes our organization a client to the supplies firm. Basically, our organization is part of the market for the supplies firm. The cross-sector marketing communications solutions that I would propose for the supplies firm would be one that is best for them to communicate with the market. For the supplies firm, I would propose direct marketing. According to Lund and Marinova (2014), direct marketing communication can be in a variety of formats including direct e-marketing, telemarketing, postal mail and point-of-sale (POS) interactions. With direct marketing, the marketer has to directly interact with the client. Interaction can be by voice or face-to-face. Since the supplies firm makes it possible for the client to get anything they require at a fair price, their clients are unlimited because every organization is a potential client. Direct marketing suits this type of organization because products or supplies required can be sourced from different firms and it is the responsibility of the supplies firm to convince the clients why particular sources are better than the others. E-marketing, telemarketing, postal mail and point-of-sale (POS) interactions avails the organization to its client and both can come to an agreement. This proposal has the benefits that the supplies firm meets its clients and the potential clients so as to answer any questions that the clients may have. For instance, a client may want to know what options exist for the items that they require and the differences between the items. Direct marketing would also enhance the partnership between the supplies firm and its clients. Contrary to direct marketing, in the other forms of marketing communication solutions, either party can request for attention from the other and face a disappointment due to failure of a reply. 4. Nonpersonal and personal communication channels have many sub-channels within them. Personal communication channel is described as the communication between persons, but the massage emanates from a specific person. Personal communication can be face-to-face, over telephone, person to audience or through couriers, post, mobile messages or emails. Personal communication does not always empower customers and respond to their perspectives because the persons may not always be available. Nonpersonal communication channel is highly effective in empowering customers and responding rapidly to their perspectives. According to Michman and Harris (2007), nonpersonal channel includes events, atmospheres and media. Media includes broadcast media, print media, display media and electronic media. Events are the occurrences that are designed to communicate to the target audiences and includes conferences, ceremonies and sponsorship events where target audiences are met. The atmosphere is what the companies create within the environments of their offices. Nonpersonal communication highly empowers customers because firms ensure that the message they include in the channels appeal to their needs. The organization of events ensures that customers perspectives are rapidly responded to. According to Michman and Harris (2007), nonpersonal communication channel, especially experiences and events have seen organizations grow since the rapidly respond to customers perspectives. Companies build images of their brands by creating and sponsoring events. Mohr and Nevin, (2010) point out some of the companies that have largely progressed by sponsored events: Visa actively sponsors Olympics; Perrier is a sponsor of most events including sports; Harley-Davidson is a sponsor of the motorcycles rallies that take place annually; and IBM and ATT sponsors art exhibitions and symphony performances. Such sponsored events are part of the non-personal communication channels that rapidly respond to the perspective of customers. Apart from creating events, all the other forms of media capture the attention of the customer instantly. 5. Our organization makes every effort to maintain contact with clients and business networks. The firm has created the culture of making every staff and new employees believe that clients and business networks are the most important things for the success of its businesses. Due to this culture, the policy in our organization is that every client should be treated individually and well. In order to maintain contact, the organization requires every staff to: keep clients informed by making regular communications to update them; be the clients useful resource by providing any information that seems useful to them; be open and honest to clients by avoiding manipulations and cons; meet the agreed deadlines at all times; and to have a partnership vision. Good partnership between the clients and the organizations staff ensures that business networks are maintained. The organization believes that communication is the most essential thing in the life of every individual and not least in business relations and our work. The manager insists that there is a large variety of ways in which one can be in contact with clients. When budgeting, the organization ensures that it allocates a good amount to everything to do with communication. Some of the ways the staff are supposed to keep in touch with the clients includes use of mails, phone calls, social media and even paper mails. It is the duty of the staff to note the most comfortable means of communicating with specific clients. It is also essential that members of the organization make themselves available as possible such that enquiries are promptly responded to. During communication, we are urged to always be open and honest so as to maintain the clients. Communication also helps to create business networks. It is the duty of every employee to create a good relationship with the client through hone st communication at all times. References Lund, D. J., Marinova, D. (2014). A Definition and Introduction to Ergonomics

A Definition and Introduction to Ergonomics Ergonomics is a term thrown around by health professionals and marketing mavens with a cavalier attitude. For some, it has a very specific meaning. For others, it covers everything under the sun. With all this different verbiage flying at you, you are probably starting to wonder, â€Å"What is Ergonomics?† Definition of Ergonomics Ergonomics derives from two Greek words: ergon, meaning work, and nomoi, meaning natural laws, to create a word that means the science of work and a person’s relationship to that work. The International Ergonomics Association has adopted this technical definition: ergonomics (or human factors) is the scientific discipline concerned with the understanding of interactions among humans and other elements of a system, and the profession that applies theory, principles, data and methods to design in order to optimize human well-being and overall system performance. That is not the most efficient definition of what ergonomics is. Let us keep things simple. Ergonomics is the science of making things comfy. It also makes things efficient. And when you think about it, comfy is just another way of making things efficient. However, for simplicity, ergonomics makes things comfortable and efficient. What Is the Study of Ergonomics? At its simplest definition ergonomics, it  literally means the science of work. So ergonomists, i.e. the practitioners of ergonomics, study work, how work is done and how to work better. It is the attempt to make work better that ergonomics becomes so useful. And that is also where making things comfortable and efficient comes into play. Ergonomics is commonly thought of in terms of products. But it can be equally useful in the design of services or processes. It is used in design in many complex ways. However, what you, or the user, is most concerned with is, â€Å"How can I use the product or service, will it meet my needs, and will I like using it?† Ergonomics helps define how it is used, how it meets your needs, and most importantly if you like it. It makes things comfy and efficient. What Is Comfort? Comfort is much more than a soft handle. Comfort is one of the greatest aspects of a design’s effectiveness. Comfort in the human-machine interface and the mental aspects of the product or service is a primary ergonomic design concern. Comfort in the human-machine interface is usually noticed first. Physical comfort in how an item feels is pleasing to the user. If you do not like to touch it, you wont. If you do not touch it, you will not operate it. If you do not operate it, then it is useless. The utility of an item is the only true measure of the quality of its design. The job of any designer is to find innovative ways to increase the utility of a product. Physical comfort while using an item increases its utility. Making an item intuitive and comfortable to use will ensure its success in the marketplace.   The mental aspect of comfort in the human-machine interface is found in feedback. You have preconceived notions of certain things. A quality product should feel like it is made out of quality materials. If it is lightweight and flimsy, you will not feel that comfortable using it. The look, feel, use, and durability of a product help you make a mental determination about a product or service. Basically, it lets you evaluate the quality of the item and compare that to the cost. Better ergonomics mean better quality, which means you will be more comfortable with the value of the item. What Is Efficiency? Efficiency is quite simply making something easier to do. Efficiency comes in many forms, however. Reducing the strength required makes a process more physically efficient.Reducing the number of steps in a task makes it quicker (i.e. efficient) to complete.Reducing the number of parts makes repairs more efficient.Reducing the amount of training needed, i.e. making it more intuitive, gives you a larger number of people who are qualified to perform the task. Imagine how inefficient trash disposal would be if your teenage child wasnt capable of taking out the garbage. Efficiency can be found almost everywhere. If something is easier to do, you are more likely to do it. If you do it more, then it is more useful. Again, the utility is the only true measure of the quality of a design. And if you willingly do something more often, you have a greater chance of liking it. If you like doing it, you will be more comfortable doing it. So the next time you hear the term ergonomics, you will know what it means to you. And, hopefully, that is a comforting thought.

101 Solution Examples and Structure Professor Ramos Blog

101 Solution Examples and Structure Creating Structure Quick Write What is Academic Writing? The article â€Å"What is Academic Writing?† is a brief introduction to the writing you will be expected to do in college. The article begins by addressing common myths about what academic writing is.  Which ones have you heard before?  Think of one or two more myths, or ideas of writing, that you have heard before. Myth #1: The â€Å"Paint by Numbers† myth Myth #2: Writers only start writing when they have everything figured out Myth #3: Perfect first drafts Myth #4: Some got it; I don’t- the genius fallacy Myth #5: Good grammar is good writing Myth #6: The Five Paragraph Essay Myth #7: Never use â€Å"I† Irvin quotes a study by Lee Ann Carroll about the writing students do in college: What are usually called ‘writing assignments’ in college might more accurately be called ‘literacy tasks’ (7). What do you think she means here? In a short paragraph, write what you think the author is saying. Knowledge of Research Skills The Ability to Read Complex Texts The Understanding of Key Disciplinary Concepts Strategies for Synthesizing, Analyzing, and Responding Critically to New Information Academic Writing Is an Argument To start, let’s focus on argument. What does it mean to present an â€Å"argument† in college writing? Rather than a shouting match between two disagreeing sides, argument instead means a carefully arranged and supported presentation of a viewpoint. Its purpose is not so much to win the argument as to earn your audience’s consideration (and even approval) of your perspective. Characteristics of Academic Writing Clear evidence in writing that the writer(s) have been persistent, open-minded, and disciplined in study. (5) The dominance of reason over emotions or sensual perception. (5) An imagined reader who is coolly rational, reading for information, and intending to formulate a reasoned response. (7) Your professor wants to see these three things in your writing Solution Argument Examples One example of a solution argument essay that we have previously discussed in this class is â€Å"The Danger of a Single Story† by Chimamanda Adichie. To quote a  CNN article on the Danger of a Single Story: Nigerian author Chimamanda Adichie believes in the power of stories, and warns that hearing only one about a people or nation leads to ignorance. She says the truth is revealed by many tales. She illustrates this with a story about coming to the United States, as a middle-class daughter of a professor and an administrator, and meeting her college roommate. Adichie says that her roommate’s â€Å"default position toward me, as an African, was a kind of patronizing, well-meaning, pity. My roommate had a single story of Africa. A single story of catastrophe.† Adichie also tells how growing up in Nigeria reading only American and English children’s books made her deaf to her authentic voice. As a child, she wrote about such things as blue-eyed white children eating apples, thinking brown skin and mangos had no place in literature. That changed as she discovered African writers, particularly the Nigerian Chinua Achebe. This is a great quote that highlights some of the moves we need to do in our article. It summarizes her topic, problem she is addressing, and solution; including examples she uses. Topic:  Many people do not realize that they are getting only one story. A single story is incomplete and she says dangerous. Problem:  Having a single story about an issue or group of people leads to stereotypes and incomplete information. Solution:  To look for multiple stories of whatever issue or topic you are hearing. She recommends we get our news and stories from multiple perspectives. Reasons and evidence:  She gives examples from her personal life to highlight that she has a personal connection. Background:  She gives background information, citing quotes and examples that place her issue in a historical context. She also uses current examples to place the issue in a contemporary context. Audience Who do you think her audience is? What do they value? Does she address those values? E-commerce Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

E-commerce - Research Paper Example In Consumer-to-Business commerce, consumers publicize products or services and suppliers provide services to them (Magal, 2012). Finally, Consumer-to-Consumer commerce allows an individual to sell services or goods to other individuals over the internet. Levels of the internet economy comprise of internet infrastructure layer, application infrastructure layer, intermediary marker layer, as well as internet commerce layer, (Kamis, 2011). The internet infrastructure layer comprises of companies that offer services for creating an IP based network and a prerequisite for E-commerce. The internet application layer builds upon the internet infrastructure layer and makes technology viable to carry out business proceedings online. Internet intermediary layer increases the efficiency of E-markets through facilitating the interaction of sellers and buyers online (Magal, 2012). Finally, the internet commerce level includes the sales of goods over the internet through websites such as E-bay or Amazon among others. Also, internet economy has created various businesses such as website developers and Server manufactures in order to run businesses online (Kamis, 2011). Unlike the brick and mortar stores that require a wide variety of staff, e-commerce businesses do not need a bid staff (Kamis, 2011). Hence, the cost of running an e-commerce business is minimal. Also, brick and store businesses have to run only in a certain location, unlike e-commerce businesses. E-commerce businesses do not have to locate a location in order to run their business. They just need to have a website and everything follows. Even though, setting up a website requires funds, setting up a brick and mortar store requires more funds than an e-commerce

History of Kites Essay Example for Free

History of Kites Essay History of Kites The kites have been around the world for at least 2000 years, or even longer. Some people think the Chinese flew them around 1000 BC, but other than that, the exact time, date, inventor, and place that the kite was invented is unknown. We believe that the kites might have been invented in China or even in Malaysia. Documentary has been found proving that the kites have been around since 200 BC. The documentary was a general in the Han dynasty is recorded as having used a kite as an instrument of war. This was a method to determine the correct distance to dig a tunnel to enter a palace and end a siege. Also there were other stories about kites being used to lift up fireworks to scare the opposing army. The kite was very useful at that time. The kite was introduced to Europe by explores coming from Asia. One of the explores was Marco Polo, who wrote very good notes on constructing a kite and how they were flown. As the 18th Century came up, the kite in Europe it was used as a scientific instrument. In 1749, Alexander Wilson, a Scottish meteorologist used the kite to lift thermometers at a height of 3000 feet to measure temperature variations at altitude. In 1752, Benjamin Franklin used the kite to demonstrate that lightning was similar to the static electricity that scientists were experimenting with at the time. Without the kite none of these experiments and inventions of our past inventors would have never happened. There are many different types of kites: sled kite, diamond kite, barn door kite, sode kite, rokkaku kite, delta kite, roller kite, dopero kite, box kite, and a lot more. Would you like to build your own kite? Try this! Build a sled kite. Here is how to do it. Step ! : Create a template for your kite by folding a piece of 9 X 12 inch construction or other stiff paper in half. Draw the design onto the template as shown in the image. Dont worry; it doesnt have to be perfect! It will be symmetrical when opened. Cut out your template, but do not cut along the fold. Step 2: Open your template up, and place it on the paper, plastic or newspaper. Trace the shape, and cut it out. Leave flat after cutting. Step 3: Use a couple layers of scotch tape to reinforce the corners F and C with a couple of layers of tape. Then, punch holes for string at corners F and C. Step 4: Tape the skewers or sticks to the kite. Once stick should stretch from corner A to E, and the other should go from corner B to D. Step 5: If you are using blank paper, this is the time to color your kite! Step 6: To make the Bridle: Cut two strings the same length. Twelve inches long usually works for most kites, but it is better to make it too long than too short. Tie one string to corner F and one to corner C. Bring the corners of the kite together then tie the strings together with the very easy Overhand Knot. The knot should be directly in the middle of corners F and C. Step 7: Create a tail, and go fly your kite!

Essay --

Simon Bolivar is one of the most powerful and influential figures in the history of Latin America, a hero who led the movement for independence for several Latin American nations, a military and political leader with his own personal story full of tragic and dramatic moments. During his lifetime he helped to liberate people of Venezuela, Colombia, Perà º, Ecuador and Bolivia from Spanish domination, played a big role in foundation of Gran Colombia and setting the principles of democracy. Even though Bolivar was not very well-known around the world, he was always held in respect among people in Latin America and remembered as a man who had an authority and power. Bolivar’s integrity, high moral standards, and perseverance in the face of overwhelming odds made him a role model to many people. Simon Bolivar is a brave character whose leadership and risks turn against him when he least expects it. Bolà var's dream had always been to cause an American Revolution-style federation among all the newly independent republics in Latin America, where with a new government set up solely to recognize and support the rights of the individual. Gabriel Garcia Marquez in his book â€Å"The General in His Labyrinth† changes or â€Å"twists† a little the representation of the Latin American hero. First of all, Marquez never really references Simon Bolivar by his name, but only as â€Å"The Liberator†. His idea behind the book was to change the traditional heroic portrayal of Simon Bolivar and show an old man who is suffering through his illness and mental exhaustion. This dark brooding story covers the last 7 month of Simon Bolivar’s life. South American Liberator has spent many years in opposition to Spanish presence, he swept the Spaniards from their former colonie... ...the nations, commits actions that he regrets about later in his life. His whole life he is haunted by the guilt of ordering summary executions of former comrades, his fall from power, and the depression of perceived failure. And in the final and most significant scene of the story, just before he dies, Bolivar finally sees the truth: â€Å"The headlong race between his misfortunes and his dreams was at that moment reaching the finish line. The rest was darkness.† It’s a book that lends itself to a lot of contemplation – about history and the men who make it and what happens to every man when their glory is past. This story about Bolivar is about one way in which such men live the last days – things which are not easily recorded in history since we like to remember our heroes unblemished and perfect. This story is about when each one of us becomes human and all too mortal.

Equality and inclusion in health Essay

OUTCOME 1 Understand the importance of equality and inclusion. 1.Explain what it is diversity, equality, inclusion, discrimination. Diversity – is in the service users houses I work -there are men and women and a range in ages too. Each will have their own personal experiences and preferences, for example – for food and activities, different attitudes;for example – to staff and servise users ,beliefs, health status and intellectual ability. These differences make up diversity. Equality – equality means treating everyone fairly and making equal opportunities available- this also involves respecting individuals. Inclusion – inclusion involves making the individual the centre of their life, involving them in everything that is about them,so that they are actively involved in all aspects of their life, care and support. Discrimination – negative prejudices develop against people who are different in some way. Discriminatory behaviour results in unfair ,unjust treatment. It could be done against those who are different with respect to their age, sex, nationality, ethnic background, religion, ability, financial status and size. 2.Describe ways in which discrimination may deliberately or inadvertently occur in the work setting. Ways that discrimination can occur could be based on a individual’s ability or on their financial status .Direct discrimination would occur if the care worker shows an objection, that is displays a dislike of the individual and refuses to support them, because of the level of their ability or decides  that they will withdraw their service because of the individual’s financial status which they believe does not entitle them to the support. Inadvertently discrimination would occur if the care worker worked in a way that insisted on only working with individuals or staff that met certain requirements or insisted in working is one set way without asking them or finding out from them as this would inadvertently exclude individuals from being supported. 3.Explain how practices that support equality and inclusion reduce the likehood of discrimination. Treating the individual fairly ,on the same level and providing them with equal opportunities to housing, education, employment, transport, health and social care can help as the individual will feel valued and treated fairly and not made vulnerable or set apart that will reduce ,if not eliminate any discrimination against that individual or by that individual against others. Inclusion also is important as the individual will be aware of their rights, will feel in control and will feel supported to be able to make their own choices and have their needs met and so reduce the risk of the individual being discriminated against others. OUTCOME 2 Be able to work in an inclusive way. 1.Identify which legislation and codes of practice ralating to equality, diversity and discrimination apply to own role. In my workplace we have policies and procedures on equality ,diversity, inclusion and discrimination. There are also the GSCC codes to practice for social care workers. The Equality Act and the Human Rights Act are relavant legislations. There are various pieces of legislation in place to promote equality and reduce discrimination . These include: The Disability Discrimination Act 2005 The Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001 The Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000 Convention of the Rights of the Child (UN 1998) The Human Rights Act 1998 The Sex Discrimination Act 1975 (as amended) Employment Equality Regulations 2003. 3.Describe how to challenge discrimination in a way that encourages change. The best way to challenge the discriminatory attitudes of a social care worker or an individual is to talk through their behaviour with them and explain that discrimination will be tolerated .This is not done in a aggressive manner, but instead a way to try to get that person to recognise that they are adopting a negative attitude -this has to be explained clearly ,but also in a gentle and open – minded way .It could be done if it’s a social care worker during an appraisal as this allows them time to think- it may be that people are reminded of the impact discrimination can have and what the workplace policy and procedure says about these. All discrimination must not be tolerated and must be reported immediately to a senior member of staff. OUTCOME 3 Know how to access information, advice and support about diversity, equality, and inclusion. 1.Identify a range of sources of information ,advice and support about diversity ,equality and inclusion. Revelant legislation such as Equality Act 2010,my line manager,my companies Policies and Procedures ,my colleagues, training (Equality & Diversity, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Safe- guarding ,Person- Centred Support/Planning),the internet, the books, articles&reports,Care Quality Commision,Skills for Care,Charities&Organizations such as British Institute  for Learning Disabilities,Sense,Action on Hearing loss,Mind. Information- from individual, advocate, care plans, procedures, guidelines, legislation and codes of practice. Advice -from manager, key worker, advocate. Support – from manager, colleagues. 2.Describe how and when to access information ,advice and support about diversity, equality and inclusion. If you believe or suspect that someone is a victim of discrimination then it should be reported immediately to my senior or manager for support or advice ,as well as if you feel that as an individual you are a victim of disccrimination in any form this should be taken to my senior or manager .If you detect discrimination in the home but are unsure of how to tackle it,or even if it is justified to interfere with something then advice should be called for form a senior member of staff if the answer cannot be obtained by searching through care plans or any policies and procedures. For example: You may have had a complaint about disccrimination in the home but are unable to actually witness it for yourself and are unsure of what to do,the person may be lying or the person maybe a victim to inequality or discrimination by someone who is very carefull not be caught,it would be nearly impossible to witness something yourself ,so seeking support and advice from a senior member of staff or even another care worker could bring the situation under control with more people watching out and working to safeguard the individual in question.

How to Measure the Economic Strength of a Country

Measuring the size of a countrys economy involves several different key  factors, but the easiest way to determine its strength is to observe its  Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which determines the market value of goods and services produced by a country. To do this, one must simply count up the production of every type of good or service in a country, from smartphones and automobiles to bananas and college education, then multiply that total by the price at which each product is sold. In 2014, for instance, the United States GDP totaled $17.4 trillion, which ranked it as the highest GDP in the world. Gross Domestic Product One mean of determining the size and strength of a countrys  economy is through nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The Economics Glossary defines GDP as the gross domestic product for a region, wherein the GDP is the market value of all the goods and services produced by labor and property located in the region, usually a country. It equals Gross National Product minus the net inflow of labor and property incomes from abroad. The nominal indicates that the GDP is converted into a base currency (typically the U.S. Dollar or Euros) at market exchange rates. So you calculate the value of everything produced in that country at the prices prevailing in that country, then you convert that into U.S. Dollars at market exchange rates. Currently, according to that definition, Canada has the 8th largest economy in the world and Spain is 9th. Other Ways of Calculating GDP and Economic Strength The other way of calculating GDP is taking into account differences between countries due to purchasing power parity. There are a few different agencies who calculate GDP (PPP) for each country, such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. These figures calculate for disparities in the gross product that result from differing valuations of goods or services in different countries. GDP can also be determined by either supply or demand metrics wherein one can either calculate the total nominal value of goods or services purchased in a country or simply produced in a country. In the former, supply, one calculates how much is produced regardless of where the good or service is consumed. Categories included in this supply model of GDP include durable and nondurable goods,  services, inventories, and structures. In the latter, demand, the GDP is determined based on how many goods or services the citizenry of a country buys of its own goods or services. There are four primary demands that are considered when determining this type of GDP:  consumption, investment, government spending and spending on net exports.
